Privacy policy

Short version: your voice goes from your Mac to the AI provider you chose, and nowhere else. Reeve keeps no recordings. The one server we run only checks licences and never sees audio or text.

Who is responsible

The data controller for Reeve and this website is Invisu ApS, Denmark. You can reach us at hello@reevetalk.com or by replying to your Stripe receipt.

The app

Audio

Reeve records your microphone only while you hold the dictation key (or, in tap mode, between the two taps). The audio exists only for that one dictation. Long dictations are sent to your provider in slices of about 20 seconds while you are still talking, so part of the audio is on its way before you let go. To compress the audio before sending, Reeve writes it briefly to a temporary file on your Mac and deletes that file as soon as the upload is done. Reeve keeps no recordings, and we never receive your audio.

Text sent to your provider

To produce the result, Reeve sends the provider what it needs for that dictation: the audio, the name of the app and the window title you are dictating into (so the text can be shaped for it), and when you rewrite marked text, the marked text and your spoken instruction. You can switch off the use of marked text and app context in Settings.

Your AI provider

You connect Reeve to a supported provider (OpenAI or ElevenLabs today) with your own API key. The provider processes your audio under its own terms and privacy policy, in your own account. Please read them; they decide how long the provider keeps data and whether it is used for anything else. We have no access to your provider account.

Your API key

Your key is stored in the macOS Keychain on your Mac and is only sent to the provider it belongs to.

Learning from your corrections

After Reeve has typed a result, it watches that one text field for up to 40 seconds to see whether you type over a word. To do that it reads the field's text through macOS Accessibility, compares it in memory with what it wrote, and keeps only the word pair (what it heard, what you wrote). The surrounding text is dropped and nothing leaves your Mac. It never reads password fields and stops as soon as you move to another field. This is on by default; switch it off in Settings › General (“Learn from words I type over”).

Settings, vocabulary and history

Your per-app rules, the names and terms Reeve has learned, and the text of your recent dictations (the History in the menu bar) are stored on your Mac, in Reeve's folder under Application Support. You can clear the history in Settings. None of it is sent to us.

Licence check

When you activate Reeve, and about once a month afterwards, the app contacts our licence server at reevetalk.com and sends your licence key and an anonymous identifier for your Mac (a hash of its hardware id; the id itself never leaves the Mac). The server checks the key against your Stripe purchase and stores the identifier in that purchase record, so that one licence can be used on two Macs. No audio, text, settings or usage data is sent with it.

No analytics in the app

We do not collect usage statistics, crash reports or dictation content from the app.

Payment

Purchases are handled by Stripe. Stripe processes your card details, name, email address and billing country under its own privacy policy. We receive the purchase record (name, email, amount, country) so we can deliver Reeve, handle refunds and the switching discount, and keep accounting records as Danish bookkeeping law requires. We never see your full card number.

If you send us a screenshot or invoice for the switching discount, we use it only to check the discount and keep it as part of the accounting record for the refund.

This website

The website and the licence server are hosted by Vercel. Like any web host, Vercel processes technical data such as your IP address and browser type to deliver pages and protect the service. The site sets no cookies, uses no analytics, and loads its fonts from Google Fonts, which means your browser contacts Google's servers to fetch them. The thank-you page after purchase shows your licence key and the email address on your receipt, fetched from Stripe with the checkout reference in the link; keep that link to yourself.

Legal basis and your rights

We process purchase data to fulfil our contract with you and to meet legal obligations such as bookkeeping. Under the GDPR you have the right to access, correct and delete your personal data, to object to processing and to data portability. Write to hello@reevetalk.com or reply to your Stripe receipt to use these rights. You can also complain to the Danish Data Protection Agency (Datatilsynet, datatilsynet.dk).

Changes

If we change how Reeve handles data, we update this page and the date at the top.
